4 Tips To Prevent Heart Disease

Did you know that 75% of all people that have heart attacks have healthy cholesterol? Did you know statins (drug to lower cholesterol) is prescribed to one in four adults? And that they have now been found to increase your risk of developing diabetes. Statins have been used by doctors as the most effective way to lower high LDL cholesterol. A researcher at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Christopher Gardner, concluded that having high cholesterol, even high LDL, is an “overblown risk factor” for heart disease. So what can be done naturally to prevent heart disease.

First of all, there are natural ways to lower your LDL. Healthy diet and regular exercise! I am sure we have all heard that one before. But it remains a requirement if your goal is healthy living.

So how can you prevent heart disease? First, exercise, even if only a little each day. Your risk of heart attack increases when you are out of shape. Take a daily walk or spend 30 minutes weight training. Second, begin to find and prepare healthier food. Find what works for you and stick with it. Start one step at a time. Add a fruit/vegetable or cut out soda and replace with filtered water. A healthier diet is one of the most effective changes you can make. Third, include in your blood tests triglycerides and c-reactive protein in addition to HDL and LDL. Fourth, lose a couple of pounds and more importantly, reduce your body fat percentage by increasing your muscle mass with weight training.

Now I do not mean that you have to be a body-builder. High repetitions of resistance training exercises will build muscle also.

The key is to just get started. Start with one of these today and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
